Media Bright Up Rouge for gorgeous-looking lips (Japan Lipstick Review) » myBeautyCravings

Media Bright Up Rouge is the second lipstick I’ve tried from the Media brand, and I love it. It’s been my go-to for everyday wear and I’m already close to finishing it. Hereby sharing a quick review of this Japan-made lipstick.

If you like a lipstick that’s bright, shiny and has reasonable staying power, keep reading!

Media Bright Up Rouge Review

About Media Cosmetics

I’ve introduced Media Cosmetic in one of my earlier posts, which you can read more about here. In short, Media comes under the Kanebo family and hails from Japan. Other than Japan, you can often find this product in Taiwan too.

What does Media Bright Up Rouge do?

At the moment, Media offers four types of lipsticks, each catering to different needs, such as bright, glossy, long-lasting and translucent.

The one being reviewed – Media Bright Up Rouge – is as its name suggests, a lipstick designed to deliver bright, vibrant colour. Here’s what it promises:

  • Dense, rich gloss and color.
  • Moisturising without the need for lip balm.
  • Long-lasting, vibrant colour.

Media Bright Up Rouge comes in 15 colours, ranging from pink to orange (see colour swatch here). The colour I’ve bought is OR-01. It’s a nice orangey-shade.

What’s Great about Media Bright Up Rouge?

1. Soft Shine Finish

Media Bright Up Rouge offers a soft-shine finish, making your lips look healthier and plumper.

2. Bright & Obvious Colour

Just one swipe and you get rich and vibrant colour on your lips. These days, I find that richer colours suit me better. It may be something to do with the age. 🙂

Everyday lipstick – almost finishing it.

So what I really like about Media Bright Up Rouge is how it adds a pop of colour, but yet allows me to retain this “natural look” that I prefer.

Despite it’s rich pigment, I could easily apply this on the go, without the mirror. This is another thing I like about the lipstick – rich but easy to apply. You don’t have to worry about harsh lines on the lips – somehow, it just blends well. Very forgiving lipstick!

3. Media Bright Up Rouge is Moisturising

This lipstick feels so comfortable on the lips – almost like a lip balm. Actually, I’m wearing it now as I type this review, and its light greasiness reminds me of DHC Lip Cream – another holy grail of mine.

Thanks to Google translate, I learn that this lipstick contains water-soluble collagen and hyaluronic acid.

4. Reasonably Good Staying Power

By its product name, Media Bright Up Rouge is not marketed as a long-wear lipstick. But I am happy to report that it is longer-lasting than many drugstore moisturising lipsticks I’ve tried, including Chifure.

It compares well with higher-end options – Clinique Long Last Lipstick, a favourite of mine since my teens.

What’s Bad?

Actually, I do not have anything bad to share about Media Bright Up Rouge. Perhaps, if I have to squeeze out one, it would be the cost.

At about ¥1200, this is still a very affordable lipstick. But thought it’s noteworthy to point out that it’s the “priciest” among the Media’s range of lipsticks.

It is also a lot more pricier than this Chifure lipstick

Recommendation: Who should buy it?

I will. 🙂

Well, if you like obvious colour that’s easy to apply, moisturising and has a good shine, then you may like Media Bright Up Rouge as much as I do.

For the price of one such lipstick, I can buy three Chifure lipsticks. But, this will not deter me from getting more of Media Bright Up Rouge lipsticks when I revisit Japan. I find this lipstick longer-lasting and really appreciate it’s bright and obvious colour.

I’m really keen to try out their pink range next time – maybe a RS-03. What colour would you buy? Rating: 4.5/5
