A beach south of Perth has been closed and remains on high alert after reports of a ‘shark interaction’ with members of the public.
Secret Harbour Beach was shut after the ‘interaction’ was reported about 10.23am on Saturday.
Surf Life Saving WA said an unknown species of shark bumped a surfer’s board about 40m from shore.
Not long after, lifesavers reported another sighting at the same beach of a two-metre bronze whaler.
That shark was also about 40m from shore and tracked south.
It is unclear at this stage whether it was two sightings of the same shark or two different sharks.
Following the report, SLSWA acted quickly to close the beach.
Officers from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development are monitoring the situation.
