Admittedly, I need a haircut badly. Although the rib-length strands looked okay from afar, at closer glance, signs of dead and damaged hair were clear—that was until I tried amika’s new overnight leave-in treatment, Midnight Mender ($44). Clinically proven to repair damage and promote nine times stronger hair by morning, I put this powerhouse to the test on my tired strands while getting some beauty sleep.
The first thing I noticed about the product was the scent. Instead of visions of sugar plums dancing in your head while you sleep, the scent of sandalwood, vanilla, rose, orchid and grapefruit will promote some seriously sweet dreams. The formula can be applied to damp or dry hair. Since I’m a nighttime showerer, I applied it to my damp hair and headed to bed to let it work its magic.

In the morning, I took my hair out of the braid I often sleep in and noticed immediately how more glossy, silky and healthy my hair looked. At closer glance, my split ends looked better, and my dry strands were hydrated. One of the biggest wins for me (and my parter who helps clean he bathroom) was that there was less breakage when brushing my hair after using the Midnight Mender.
The immediate results were satisfying but it’s also nice to know that the ingredients like seabuck thorn berry and bond fortifying technology help protect against future damage as well as what’s already happened to your hair. I noticed that my hair maintained this healthy look and feel even after taking a Dyson to it and putting in some product. I plan to use Midnight Mender between washes every couple of weeks, especially until I get my hair cut. It’s the perfect easy-to-use super-powered solution.
Don’t just trust me, although you should since I’ve tried many a hair treatment. Amika recently revamped its Stylist Collective and boasts star-powered fans, including celebrity hairstylists like Glen Coco, Marissa Marino and Clayton Hawkins.
