Apple has officially renewed hit show Severance for Season 3.
Ben Stiller and Dan Erickson’s sci-fi psychological thriller is the most popular show on Apple TV+, and its recently concluded second season is the most-watched series ever on the streamer. Check out IGN’s review of Severance Season 2 to find out what we thought if the show.
“Making Severance has been one of the most creatively exciting experiences I’ve ever been a part of,” said Stiller. “While I have no memory of this, I’m told making Season 3 will be equally enjoyable, though any recollection of these future events will be forever and irrevocably wiped from my memory as well.”
“I couldn’t be more excited to get back to work with Ben, Dan, the incredible cast and crew, Apple and the whole Severance team,” said star and executive producer Adam Scott. “Oh hey also – not a huge deal – but if you see my innie, please don’t mention any of this to him. Thanks.”

In Severance, Mark Scout (Scott) leads a team at Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a severance procedure that surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives. This daring experiment in ‘work-life balance’ is called into question as Mark finds himself at the center of an unraveling mystery that will force him to confront the true nature of his work… and of himself.
In Season 2, Mark and his friends learn the dire consequences of trifling with the severance barrier, leading them further down a path of woe. Season 2 welcomes new series regulars Sarah Bock and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson.
There’s no release date for Season 3, unfortunately. But in a recent appearance on Jason and Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast, Stiller insisted Season 3 will likely not face the same three-year gap that Season 2 suffered.
“No, the plan is not to [wait three years],” Stiller said. “Definitely not. Hopefully we’ll be announcing what the plan is very soon. That will not be that!”
“There was a writers’ and actors’ strike, and it took us a while to regroup after that,” Stiller explained. “I think we shot for 186 days on Season 2. There was a lot of shooting and editing, and editing takes a while. But thank goodness that the audience was there when we came back on.”
