Brisbane, Gold Coast BoM forecasts heavy rainfall, winds; NSW floods worsen; Lismore ADF vehicle crash injures multiple

Severe weather warnings remain current for large parts of South East Queensland and parts of northern NSW.

Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Angus Hines said a large severe weather warning runs from Maryborough, south of Hervey Bay, through Noosa, the rest of the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and the Gold Coast right down to the NSW border.

The warning extends west through the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast hinterlands, eastern parts of the Darling Downs, the Scenic Rim, Springbrook and through Toowoomba.

Hines said in NSW the warnings have changed through the evening, as “more significant conditions” make their way inland.

“That actually means some coastal areas could see the worst of their weather easing over the next six to 12 hours,” Hines said.

“So the warning has been retracted out of coastal locations, from Evans Head down to Coffs Harbour. They’re no longer in the warning there, but the warning does still cover most of the Northern Rivers area and much of the Northern Tablelands as well, from the Queensland border south to around Armadale.”
