As a pro recipe developer, I’m asked all the time about my favorite recipes and go-to kitchen equipment. Friends are always shocked at my short list of must-haves — just  baking sheets, a cast-iron skillet, and a trio of knives (paring, chef’s, and serrated). I’ve long relied on baking sheets from the restaurant supply store, but I’d be lying if I didn’t admit to being intrigued by the stylish and colorful bakeware from Caraway that kept popping up in my social media feeds.

What’s So Great About Caraway’s Baking Sheet Duo?

Stylish, modern design. The full bakeware set includes a large (18×13-inch) baking sheet and a medium (10×15-inch) baking sheet. The baking sheets can also be purchased individually or as a set. I’d be remiss to go any further without mentioning how stylish these baking sheets are. As someone who has long settled for function over form, I’ve been pleased that with Caraway, I don’t have to choose. The pans have sturdy and slightly flared edges, and the larger baking sheet also has handles that can be ergonomically useful for gripping the pan. Just remember that those handles are metal and can get quite hot.

Easy to care for. Caraway’s baking sheets can remain in tip-top condition as long as you care for them properly. Luckily, it’s an easy task to clean these nonstick pans. When I’m serving sheet pan dinners or transferring cookies to cooling racks, I make sure to use a plastic or silicone spatula rather than a metal one. This helps keep the ceramic coating scratch-free. It’s important to transfer foods to a cutting board before grabbing a knife, rather than cutting directly on the baking sheet for the same reason. The slate color of my baking pans still looks as good as new (even after dinners left burned on residue more than once) thanks to a simple cleaning routine that requires just a nonabrasive cleaner and sponge.

Made with nontoxic materials. The ceramic-coated aluminized steel core gives Caraway’s baking sheets their nonstick properties rather than Teflon or other PTFE. Traditional nonstick pans may release potentially harmful chemicals if the coating is scratched or becomes overheated, but that is not the case with Caraway’s bakeware.

What’s the Best Way to Use Caraway’s Baking Sheet Duo?

One of the first things to make with Caraway’s baking sheets are cookies, of course. There is no shortage of cookie recipes you can try, but these soft, lemon cloud cookies have been among my recent favorites. Usually cookie recipes call for lining the baking sheet with parchment paper or a Silpat, but whenever I use my Caraway baking sheets, I know that I can skip that step and the cookies will still slide right off.

Sheet pan dinners are on regular rotation at my house, and that’s because you can make almost any dinner on a baking sheet. This sheet pan pizza is a dream Friday night dinner, because I can pick up premade pizza dough from the grocery store (or make homemade dough) and use up leftover veggies, meat, and cheese from the week. Since the larger baking sheet has about the same surface area as a standard rimmed baking sheet, that’s the one I use.

Chicken nachos are another sheet pan dinner that my kids request almost weekly. While this recipe calls for lining the baking sheet with foil for easy clean-up, even baked-on cheese is no match for Caraway’s pans.

Caraway doesn’t recommend using the baking sheets under the broiler or heating them without food on them, and I’ve noticed that the baking sheets can buckle in a hot oven, though their sturdy sides help them return to their original shape once cooled. I’ve kept some of my old baking sheets on hand for recipes like roasted frozen broccoli that require preheating and higher temperatures.
