Welcome back to the Cavern! It’s been a while since you heard from me but I’m not gone completely I’ll still be here bringing content for you guys to read up so please enjoy this little bit of speculation about Kawaki!
Ever since the start of Boruto we’ve known that there are two characters destined to fight each other. Kawaki and Boruto were forshadowed in chapter 1 of this new series to have some major conflict over the destroyed leaf village. What makes matters worse is it’s painted in such a way that Kawaki is the one who destroyed the village!
It was previously speculated that it would be due to the Karma implanted into both of their arm’s but recently we know for certain the Karma would replace them with the Otsutsuki who planted it there in the first place.
What else could be the reason for this massive change of character?
We see now Kawaki feeling massive regret and pain from watching the people, namely Naruto, he respects fighting to the death to protect him and the village. This is causing clear issues for Kawaki and these actions themselves could very well become why he chooses to destroy the village.
The pain of being protected, dying to protect something and others Kawaki may see these instances and turn them into fuel for why a village doesn’t even need to be.
He would be following in the footsteps of some villains of the parent series Naruto but there would be one massive difference between Kawaki and a character like Pain or Danzo.
We would be watching his decent into Villainry unfold right in front of us. This would be a stark contrast to what happened with Sasuke because two reasons. Sasuke’s decent may have happened in front of us but the major driving forces all happened before the actual beginning of the series. As well as Sasuke never really became that villain that needed to be defeated but instead was just another friend Naruto needed to save.
