Wanna know why you’ll love these cookies as much as we do?

  • Adaptable amount – While this recipe does make a whole batch of cookies (24-28 cookies), it’s perfect to make in small batches.
  • So delicious – It’s everything you love about the classic chocolate chip cookies: sweet chocolate chips a soft center, and slightly crispy edges.
  • Super easy – This recipe is so easy, and it’s a great recipe that the kids can help you make!
  • Freezer friendly – Make however many cookies you want now, and freeze the rest for later!

🛒 Ingredient notes

You just need a few simple ingredients that you can easily find at your local grocery store.

  • Flour – We use all-purpose flour in this air fryer recipe. I have not tried it with other types of flour, so I can’t vouch for how the recipe turns out if you make flour substitutions.
  • Other dry ingredients – You’ll need baking soda to help the cookies rise a bit. And kosher salt helps balance the sweetness.
  • Butter – Take a stick of unsalted butter out of the refrigerator about 20-30 minutes before you start baking. It should be softened at room temperature when you cream it, otherwise, the texture of the cookies won’t be quite right.
  • Egg – You’ll also want the large egg to be at room temperature before mixing it in as well.
  • Sugars – I prefer to use both granulated sugar and light brown sugar when I make air fryer chocolate chip cookies. I think the brown sugar adds a nice depth of flavor and richness and helps keep the cookies from being one note.
  • Vanilla extract – This adds that classic bakery aroma and flavor to the cookies.
  • Chocolate chips – I use all semi-sweet chocolate chips. But you can use a combination of semi-sweet chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips, white chocolate chips. It’s up to you!

Air frying temperatures and times may vary

Every air fryer is different. I tested this recipe on two different air fryers.

  • Ninja Foodi XL Deluxe Pressure Cooker/Air Fryer – Air fry at 330°F for 10 minutes.
  • Ninja Foodi Dual Zone Air Fryer – Air fry at 325°F for 8-9 minutes.

If your air fryer tends to run hot or cook faster than others, you might want to start by air frying the first batch of cookies at 325°F for 7 minutes. You can always add on more time if the cookies aren’t done to your liking when you check on them.

Can I freeze this cookie dough?

Absolutely! Once you have finished mixing the dough, you can set some aside to freeze for later. Simply wrap in plastic wrap, then place in an airtight container or freezer bag, label, and freeze for up to 3 months. You can also freeze the dough formed in dough balls.

What’s the best way to store air fryer cookies?

Allow the cookies to cool, then store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 7 days.

How many cookies can I air fry at a time?

It depends on your specific air fryer. I can air fry between 4 to 5 at one time in either of my Ninja Foodi air fryers. You may be able to air fry more than that in one batch. Just be sure you leave enough room for the cookies to spread while they air fry.

🍽 Serving ideas

The obvious Go To for serving these chocolate chip cookies is with a glass of milk. Or coffee, or hot cocoa.

Other serving ideas:

  • Scoop ice cream between two cookies to make an ice cream sandwich.
  • Crumble some cookies on top of frosted cupcakes or a frosted cake.
  • Crumble cookies into a parfait of yogurt or ice cream, along with whipped topping, and chocolate syrup drizzle.

Notes

Makes approximately 24-28 cookies.
Air frying time will vary depending on your particular air fryer. I used the Ninja Foodi in Air Crisp mode and tested different temperatures and times, and the ones listed in this recipe are the ones that yielded the best results for us. If your air fryer tends to cook quickly, you may want to try air frying them at 325°F for 7-8 minutes first, then adding time and/or increasing temperature as needed.
Storage: store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
Freezing: You can freeze the unbaked cookie dough in a ziplock freezer bag or freezer safe airtight container for up to 3 months.
