Future;Perfect – Umai Yomu Anime Blog

I added the semi-colon in there since it looks like something a Japanese person would toss in thinking it looks cool, Chaos;Head style.

Anyways, I wanted to write up something different so I’ll start doing up some posts that contain random story ideas that I’ve thought of. While it’s not really anime, at the end of the day anime is just a medium for telling stories so you can sort of imagine these in anime form, I know I am!

This idea is pretty broad and could go in so many different directions.

The general concept is that you have a person, or people, who are somehow able to peer into the future and actually steal the ideas and works of talented individuals. Like stealing the future musical compositions of a famous artist and then using them to become famous in the present. Because this involves theft, the image I get is that the ones doing the stealing are evil, and our story would somehow revolve around discovering what they are up to and somehow stopping or exposing them… maybe the way to stop them also involves this ability to peer into the future?

Well, an alternative thought I had with this idea takes what I wrote above, and actually makes it much darker. In this version, the villain(s) peer into the near future, steal works and ideas from famous individuals, and then actually kill or sabotage the individual in the present before they became successful.

Maybe it’s an organization that monopolizes this ability, so there’s this organization that for some reason just seems to produce brilliant minds in all fields, and it’s gotten to the point where it’s power allowed it to establish a technocracy of sorts. Society relies on it for all innovations, arts, schools of thought, trends, beliefs, and so on. And people generally believe that they aren’t capable of creating anything themselves, that you have to be a member of the organization in order to succeed in that way.

In reality, the people of the organization are just a bunch of stuck-up, spoiled and useless individuals who are so drunk on their power and have stagnated to the point where they aren’t even capable of coming up with their own innovations. But they can’t let the populace know about this.

So you end up with this sort of two-tiered society, where the lower working class are kept down by the organization. But little do the people know, it’s actually geniuses popping up in their own midst that are coming up with all these ideas. The organization is just peering into the future, stealing ideas, and preventing the geniuses from rising up in the present-timeline by making them disappear, preventing their birth, sabotaging their family or livelihood, et cetera.

That’s the setting. So then for our story, I’m thinking that our protagonist is a genius in the lower class populace, and the organization sees this, but when they try to dispose of our protagonist, they fail. Our protagonist ends up on the run, your typical journey to learn the truth, expose the organization for what it is, and also learn what it is that they were going to create in the future, since they haven’t actually accomplished anything yet in the present timeline. And you can create a good sense of mystery and suspense with those elements as the story unfolds.

And that’s the idea!

If you’ve made it this far and taken the time to read my story idea, I appreciate that, and what do you think? Could you picture this being an anime?

Also, did any ideas come to mind that you could add to this one?

It was fun to write this out, and you know a part of me is thinking that somewhere a variation of this story already exists. You know how sometimes you see or hear something, and then later on it comes to mind and you think that it’s an original idea when in reality you were inspired by something else? Let me know if that’s the case and I’ve just described the plot to _________!

Until next time,
Thanks for reading.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
