ESPN doing a $hitty job with this championship coverage. I don’t know who the announcers are but they suck. They don’t use proper grammar. Unprofessional. At the start of today’s coverage they showed the mother of one wrestler that lost during the year, just briefly But they didn’t show this crazy insane woman ripping her glasses off after viewing her son lose his match and crumble her glasses in her hands while crying hysterically. Why would ESPN even show her??? That’s just weird.
Honestly I am amazed how good Mike is as a commentator considering no wrestling background. Usually when they stick a generalist on wrestling they just sound dumb. Mike is doing it right, talks about back stories, stats, seeds and results. lets DC and Rock talk about the actual action. (Remember that guy who did Varner's Olympic final? shit was hilarious). Mike seems to do a good job of tying the broadcast together and keeping it professional.
I’m taking “told you so” bets on the upset of the night for the titles. As the team I’m rooting for Iowa has gotten skulldrug I’m really not sure where to go for an upset. I guess

DC's commentary is okay, but at times annoying. Or just silly. Case in point his comments on Greg Kerkvliet shaking hands with Hendrickson as they crossed paths on the mat. "I like that. I like Kerkvliet kind of addressing him! You want to win exchanges. You want to win interactions. 'We interacted, but on MY TERMS!' Kerkvliet was the one who initiated that. It's all little mind games, …." What a load of BS. Not everything is a mind game. Sometimes you just have elite athletes who also embody class and sportsmanship. That handshake (and tap on the butt by Hendrickson) were just that, classy sportsmen acknowledging each other and acting like adults. PLUS: in that tiny clip you can't see who "initiated" the handshake. When you see Hendrickson coming into the frame his hand is already extended toward Kerkvliet. Frankly, a respectful response you would expect from an Air Force Academy cadet. In any case it's class meets class. I also found DC's jubilation at announcing that HE was the cause of the large scratch on top of Cael Sanderson's head questionable. Really, you're proud of that?
First, I love wrestling, and this is my fav tourney. However, seeing guys in the tourney who are 25 and 26 is just a travesty. You have a grown man wrestling against kids! That is just not fair. Guys coming out of the Services and wrestling kids! Not fair. Come NCAA You need some better rules. DF in his fifth year? He is a full-grown man. Look at Braedan D and other true freshman, clearly, they are at a disadvantage. This is unfair.
Too much time wasted on fluff intros and not actual wrestling. Most people watching know the backgrounds and would like to actually see the matches. Also why stay on a match thats waiting on replay with the score so wide its not going to matter. Go to a exciting close match
