1. Crab Rangoon
There’s a reason crab rangoon is one of the most ordered items at Americanized Chinese restaurants, or anywhere they can be found. One person said they enjoyed the crab rangoon pizza at their local pizza place.
2. Mozzarella Sticks
Mozzarella sticks are one of the most popular appetizers in America, especially if you’re at a casual restaurant or a bar. One person had a funny take on it, explaining that while five-string cheeses seem like way too many, it becomes perfectly reasonable as an appetizer when they’re deep fried.
3. Chicken and Waffles
Chicken and waffles is a dish that’s beloved enough that multiple restaurants are dedicated to serving just that! Someone in the comments shouted out Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles (in Southern California), and another person replied, “I just read their whole menu while I ate lunch. I’m hungry again.”
4. Fried Vegetables
As we’ve established, fried appetizers are trendy among people of all ages. A discussion broke out among commenters about what pickle they prefer. The answer? Chips, almost unanimously. One person went as far as to say that whole spears are an abomination.
5. Key Lime Pie
The top comment mentioning key lime pie stated, “If I haven’t tried it from that location, it’ll be ordered, tasted, and ranked. Someone else said they were searching for the best key lime pie. A picky foodie noted that if a place uses lime juice instead of key lime, it’s disappointing and bordering anger!
6. Cheesecake
Although every restaurant seems to have slightly different cheesecake, it’s often a safe choice at the end of a meal. Even if you’re not eating at The Cheesecake Factory, many prefer it to any other type of cake. One commenter said they’d rather have cheesecake than regular cake on their birthday.
7. Fries – Period
Hundreds of comments were about fries, from curly to garlic to steak fries. Even though we all inherently understand that fries are just potato cut in different shapes and fried, we still seek them out any chance we get. Someone even requested the seasoning on curly fries to be used on all regular fries.
8. Eggs Benedict
To some, eggs benedict is — eggs on an English muffin with various toppings and sauces. However, eggs benedict is the go-to for hundreds of food lovers at any breakfast or brunch restaurant. One mentioned that they seek out unusual benedicts, such as one that was served on a biscuit and had corned beef hash with country gravy.
9. Sandwiches
I was surprised at how many people listed sandwiches as their irresistible dish. However, hundreds agreed that sandwiches like a French dip or Rueben were their go-to’s. One even said, “This is my benchmark order for every sandwich place. If you can’t make a good Rueben, I don’t care about the rest of your menu.”
10. Poutine
Another dish that involves fries, poutine, was one of the most popular dishes people listed as their go-to favorite. One person said they are sad when their poutine is brought out and made with shredded cheese instead of cheese curds. Another said, “Almost good enough for me to move to Canada, more than good enough for me to visit often.”
