HACK/SLASH celebrates 20 years by releasing its first-ever card game

There is a lot to be happy about if you’re a fan of Tim Seeley’s longstanding horror slasher series right now. After getting an Eisner nomination with Zoe Thorogood’s HACK/SLASH: BACK TO SCHOOL, plus its massively successful campaign for volume four of its deluxe hardcover omnibus, it appears that HACK/SLASH is now releasing its first-ever Hack/Slash: Card Game. Available through ZOOP, this 1-6 player deckbuilder recreates some of the best moments of the twenty-year series.

“I’ll be honest, I don’t know much about games. BUT I know people who love games REALLY love them, and we’ve been asked about a Hack/Slash card game for years” says Hack/Slash creator Tim Seeley. “So, behold the mighty folks at ZOOP who had the same idea, and who have made something really clever, and expertly designed by real game enthusiasts. I think H/S fans and gamers will love it!”

“We’re really excited to take Zoop to the next level with this game, and lay the groundwork for many other comic properties to get similar treatments,” says ZOOP CEO and Co-Founder Jordan Plosky. “It’s an honor to be a small part of the Hack/Slash legacy, and we know fans are going to love the authenticity of this game!”

The game features stunning art of Andrea DiVito and was designed in partnership with Seeley. A few early bird special discounts for the campaign thus far include a limited blood foil box edition and a deluxe version with three to-be-revealed mystery expansions.

It also has an exclusive art print available for those who support the campaign in the first 48 hours.

The mechanics of this deckbuilder will work as a co-op game where players take on the role of protagonist Cassie Hack and her spooky yet enigmatic partner, Vlad as they fight off against supernatural “Slashers”–monsters who are inspired or outright cameoed in from numerous slasher tropes in horror movies.

The object of the game is for the pair of heroes to build their decks to utilize combos and special moves, all while facing off against four signature Slashers from the Hack/Slash universe, with more villains to come later at a future date.
