THE MUSHROOM KNIGHT returns for a sequel in November
Mad Cave’s beloved Mushroom Knight has another adventure in store—and it’s arriving sooner than you think. Hot on the heels of the first book’s release in early March, the publisher has announced that the sequel will hit shelves in November, meaning fans only have to wait a few more months to keep reading.
Written and illustrated by Oliver Bly, The Mushroom Knight Vol. 2 follows an adolescent girl named Len and a chivalrous mushroom knight named Gowlitrot who cross paths as they embark on different quests in the deep, dark woods. Len wants to find her missing dog. Gowlitrot wants to protect the biome from total destruction.
As the pair become friends, Gowlitrot swears to help Lem find her dog, but it’s a more complicated quest than either of them realizes. “Perilous betrayals” rip the proverbial rug out from under them and the world as they know it may never be the same.

“The Fungal Kingdom is one of the largest eukaryotic kingdoms in the phylogenetic tree of life, encompassing an estimated 1.5-7 million species across the boundaries of its enigmatic and mostly uncharted realm,” said Bly, a mushroom enthusiast, in the announcement. “It is from this vast and mighty Kingdom, at the dawn of a new Aeon for humankind, that a tiny Mushroom Knight has emerged into the land of 1990s Philadelphia. And he has a very, very large story to tell. Far too large for just one book. My heart is radiating with golden beams of brilliant sunlight as we announce The Mushroom Knight, Volume 2, of the continuing adventures of Gowlitrot and Lem.
“Volume 1 exploded in a puff of spores that found fertile ground in the imagination of its readers. The Mushroom Knight Vol. 2 will be available everywhere books are sold on November 5.
