In a recent press release, Apple announced the launch of the Product RED edition of the Watch Series 9 to commemorate World AIDS Day. Apple has been supporting Product RED since 2006, contributing to AIDS awareness programs in sub-Saharan Africa. Apple has contributed more than $250 million to support the treatment and prevention of HIV, aiding patients in their journey to recovery and minimizing the risk of transmission. In a further commitment to the cause, Apple has pledged to donate $1 for each purchase conducted through Apple Pay on the Apple Store app or in physical Apple Stores. Additionally, the company plans to contribute proceeds from specific in-app purchases made on the App Store between December 1 and 4 for popular games like MONOPOLY GO, Gardenscapes, and EA Sports FC Mobile to the Global Fund.

Price and availability
In India, Apple has introduced the Product RED edition of the Watch Series 9 priced at Rs 41,900. Notably, the Cupertino giant has maintained the same pricing for the Product RED variant as its other editions. The watch is accessible in 41mm and 45mm sizes, featuring aluminium variants. To sweeten the deal, Apple is providing an immediate Rs 2,500 discount for HDFC Bank credit cardholders when purchasing through the official website. Additional perks include No-cost EMI options spanning from 3 to 6 months, a complimentary three-month subscription to Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and more.
Features and Specs
The Product RED versions of the Watch Series 9 maintain identical technical specifications to the standard models. In celebration of World AIDS Day, Apple has introduced customized watch faces for these smartwatches. Noteworthy features of the Watch Series 9 include an Always-on Retina display with a peak brightness of 2000 nits, powered by the in-house S9 chip enabling double-tap gestures, precision finding for iPhone, and more. The watch encompasses health-tracking capabilities such as a heart rate sensor, blood oxygen sensor, temperature monitoring, sleep tracking, and advanced workout metrics.
With a water resistance of up to 50m, swim-proof, and dust and crack resistance, the Watch Series 9 ensures durability. Apple discloses a battery rating of 18 hours in regular mode and 36 hours in power-saving mode. The smartwatch supports fast charging and comes bundled with a magnetic charger, available in both GPS and GPS plus Cellular variants.
