Ecojet begins hiring and confirms ATR 72 fleet

Upcoming UK regional carrier Ecojet, a carrier which Fresh Aviation has been closely following as part of a wider focus on sustainable aviation, has today edged closer to launch with the announcement that it is hiring for aircrew based in Edinburgh.

The Ecotricity-backed airline, which recently made headlines for an order of 70 ZeroAvia powerplants to power a split fleet of 19/70 seat aircraft, this evening published advertisements for Cabin Crew, Cabin Managers, and both First Officers and Captains who hold a current rating on the ATR 72. According to the posts, the airline is looking for crew to help it “re-write the aviation playbook,” targeting a launch date “in the first half of this year.”

Ecojet is partly-owned by the self-dubbed “Zerocarbonista” climate entrepreneur Dale Vince. Best known for his involvement in green energy firm Ecotricity, Vince is involved in a variety of eco-friendly ventures which form part of the Green Britain group: whilst he does not hold an executive role at Ecojet, Vince is a registered director at the firm and acts as a spokesperson for the airline. The carrier’s CEO is Brent Smith, a former Flybe captain, whose team is joined by several postholders from the Airline Management Group, alongside the recently-appointed Elle Wynn as the company’s Head of Aircrew.
