Shuumatsu Train Doko e Iku? – Episode 2 – Unprepared Girls and The Start of the Strange Adventure

We got a glimse of Yoka when she first entered the school. She is obviously shy.

From last time, Shizuku obviously decides to leave Agano with her rash decision to find Yoka. Of course, Nadeshiko, Reimi and Akira tag along without preparing. They are having second thoughts.

It’s probably been a while since the girls left town.

As expected, Nadeshiko, Reimi, Akira, Pocchi, and Shizuku decided to tag along. Of course, they seem excited to be out of Agano, although Akira keeps teasing Remi and gets into arguments. Of course, Nadeshiko tries to calm the two. However, they distract Shizuku, especially when they notice the train is too fast. Somehow, they managed to survive the curves.

Shizuku is still having trouble getting used to controlling the train.
They managed to survive Shizuku’s trouble controlling the train.

They find out Shizuru learned from Zenjiro from the 5 minutes she had with him every day until she was ready. Still, operating a train is difficult, which is not too surprising. I find it funny how Nadeshiko thinks Shizuru is lying despite her telling the truth. After all, they are going to the right place.

As expected, the girls came unprepared, except for Shizuru.

However, anxiety settles in when Akira realizes she forgot her piggy bank at home. While Shizuru came prepared, she only had 3000 yen and some food supplies, including some bitter melon plants that grow quickly. Yep, they left without Nadeshiko, Reimi, and Akira being completely unprepared, which is uncommon in survival stories.

You might be wondering, does the bitter melon plant is sentient?

This is not too surprising, as Shizuru intended to go alone. That is after Akira and Remi get into a heated argument. That is before one of its vines wraps around Akira’s feet for a moment. They noticed that the plant was growing a bit faster. I wonder what causes this to happen.

This old guy really doesn’t want the girls to go to Ikebukuro.

They eventually stopped when they noticed someone was coming. It’s just an old man in a swan boat. I guess the man came from Ikebukuro. The funny thing is that they think he is a serial killer but doesn’t seem to. He is apparently doing research around the Koma River. Of course, he doesn’t know about the famous things there, but he reveals something important. Only things around the Seibu Ikebukuro line exist, and everything else has disappeared.

While things he revealed are vague. Things such as fungi and goats that act like wild boars. He gave her a map after trying to convince them not to go. Of course, are they going to listen? But it should provide the girls with some clues about their next stop.

The girls are confused what this map means, but it will matter later on.

Of course, while they continue their adventure, the girls have second thoughts. Maybe they should go back to Agano to prepare before advancing any further. Shizuru thinks this is a waste of their progress. But of course, Nadeshiko reminds her if Shizuru goes on her own, she will end up making her friends sad when Yoka leaves her. Thankfully, Shizuru apologizes for her mistakes without thinking about their feelings.

They are wondering why the tracks are flooded as they receive a message.

When Akira wanted to return, it looked like that was not happening as the tracks started flooding with water. When the girls notice a tidal wave is about to happen, Zenjiro warns them through Morse code, which Reimi can read. She manages to answer back until she hears jibberish. With a tidal wave coming, they must break for it.

At least they made it out alive.
there is no turning back now.
At least they made it to their first stop, but..

Thankfully, they made it out alive and rather quickly. However, the tracks behind them are entirely ruined, meaning no going back. The only way to find Yoka is forward. With that, they got to their first stop, which was Higashi-Agano. They are greeted by normal-looking people but with mushrooms growing on their heads? That old guy mentions something about mushrooms, which is on that map. I mean, how weird can they be? Still, I feel that they shouldn’t trust them. Either way, we’ll find out next time.

Can you trust a lady with a mushroom growing on top of her head. Obviously, she is under the influence.
