BBQ Bacon Pulled Pork Sandwich

I love simple pork recipes that burst with great flavor and these pork sandwiches do that when you combine pork and bacon all in one shredded pork recipe. You can even learn how to do this in the Instant Pot too to avoid hours of slow cooking.

  • Pork roast
  • Bbq sauce
  • Coca Cola
  • Onion chopped
  • Bacon bits
  • Hamburger buns

How to make BBQ Bacon Pulled Pork:

  1. Place Pork Roast in the Slow Cooker and put onions on top of the pork roast. Pour 1 cup of BBQ sauce on top of the roast, then pour on Coca-Cola.
  2. Cook on low for 8 hours or until it is fall apart tender.
  3. Shred pork and add bacon bits.
  4. Mix well and let the bacon bits get warmed through.
  5. Serve on Buns

The cut of pork to use:

When we make this pork recipe, we tend to stick to a 4-5 lb pork tenderloin or roast. However, you can also use a pork shoulder as well, especially if you already have one ready to go! 

Adding flavor to pulled pork: 

If your pulled pork seems to be a bit too sweet, you can always add a little bit of apple cider vinegar or liquid smoke to cut the sweetness a bit, or even a little bit of hot sauce or smoked paprika if you enjoy a little kick in the dish. 

However, I would avoid using anything like soy sauce or coconut aminos as it might make the pulled pork too salty.

Toppings to serve with pulled bacon and pork sandwiches:

Here is where you can get as simple or as fancy as you desire! Especially if you are serving a crowd, a great way is to set up a toppings bar and let everyone pick out what they like best!
