Saudi students shine at international science and engineering competitions, winning 114 awards

RIYADH — Saudi students have showcased exceptional talent at the largest international competitions for science, engineering, invention, and innovation, ISEF 2024 and ITEX 2024, securing a total of 114 medals, grand, and individual awards.

This success underscores their continued excellence in these competitions, reflecting the Kingdom’s commitment to nurturing its youth in alignment with the Human Capability Development Program and Saudi Vision 2030.

The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), Tuwaiq Academy, and Misk Schools, has played a crucial role in preparing these students to excel on the global stage.

At the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF 2024) in Los Angeles, Saudi participants won 27 awards, including 9 individual and 18 grand awards. Notable among them were Hamad Al-Husseini and Abeer Al-Yousef, who won second place in the Energy and Chemistry categories, respectively.

The Kingdom’s prowess was further highlighted at the International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition (ITEX) in Malaysia, where students from various educational institutions across the country clinched 87 gold and silver medals across 48 projects. Prominent winners included Lamia Al-Otaibi, Muhammad Abu Ghandar, and Al-Sadeem Al-Odaibi.

This distinguished representation not only adds to Saudi Arabia’s accolades but also demonstrates the high level of competitiveness and innovation of its national talents on the international stage.
