Culture minister meets French foreign minister in Riyadh

RIYADH — Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah met with the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Stéphane Séjourné at the ministry’s headquarters in the Al-Bujairi neighborhood in Diriyah, Riyadh on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Prince Badr welcomed the French minister to the Kingdom, and praised the distinguished relations between the Kingdom and France, which are reflected in the existing joint works between the two friendly countries in the cultural fields.

Saudi Arabia’s participation in the camel parade held on April 20 in the French capital Paris also figured in their talks. The Ministry of Culture represented Saudi Arabia in the parade, which was held to commemorate the United Nations’ designation of 2024 as the “International Year of Camelids.” The parade was organized by the French Federation for the Development of Camelids in France and Europe.

Prince Badr’s recent meeting with his French counterpart Rachida Dati was also came up in their discussion during which the most prominent areas of cooperation and cultural exchange between governmental and private institutions in both countries were highlighted.

The meeting was attended from the Saudi side by Deputy Minister of Culture Hamid Fayez, Assistant Minister of Culture Rakan Al-Touq, and Undersecretary of Culture for International Cultural Relations Eng. Fahd Al-Kanaan.
