A rich selection of culinary delicacies was served by the Düsseldorf gusto luminary Saitta – from prawns with artichokes to tortellini in truffle cream and classic panna cotta.
This was complemented by two impressive tastings: The Hiestand winery delighted the guests with first-class wines from Rheinhessen. With his continuation of the family winery, winemaker Gunther Hiestand allows the vineyards on the Rhine front to flourish into the best vintner wines.
Those whose curiosity was sparked by the welcome cocktail – a fruity sake composition befitting the occasion – were given a fascinating insight into the enjoyment, history and harmony of European and Japanese tastes at a premium sake tasting by master sommelière Yoshiko Ueno-Müller of Ueno Gourmet.
For the finale of Japan Day, fireworks master Hideki Kubota made Japan’s iconic seasons emerge from the Düsseldorf night sky. High above the hustle and bustle, our guests enjoyed an excellent view of the impressive fireworks display in the traditional Japanese hanabi style: the crowning conclusion to a wholly successful evening.
