MUMBAI- Vistara Airlines (UK) initiated legal proceedings against a 36-year-old French male on April 4th, accusing him of smoking and engaging in misconduct during the flight.

The individual, who was reportedly intoxicated during the incident, has been released on bail after paying Rs 30,000. He is identified as an archaeologist and is currently stationed in Indore for a temporary assignment.

As per law enforcement, a flight operated by Vistara Airlines (UK024) originating from Paris (CDG) arrived at Mumbai International Airport (BOM), specifically at Terminal V-13, at 9:19 am on April 4th.

A French citizen, assigned seat number 50H, was observed smoking and utilizing their seat as a lavatory during the flight. The airline staff confiscated both the cigarette and a lighter from the individual.

Upon touchdown, the Vistara crew promptly notified the airport’s security department of the incident, urging their presence at the arrival site and surrendering the individual to them.

Following the immigration procedures, the Vistara security officer escorted the individual to the Sahar police station, where a case was registered against them under the Indian Penal Code sections 336 (pertaining to endangering the life or safety of others) and Aircraft Rules section 25 (regarding smoking on an aircraft).
