The Night Manager Revived for Two More Seasons

The BBC has officially revived The Night Manager for two more seasons, as Deadline reports. Tom Hiddleston will return to star in The Night Manager Season 2 and Season 3, with Amazon signing on as a new production partner.

Season 2 is set to start filming later this year, reportedly picking up eight years after the events of Season 1 — which is fitting, as it’s been eight years since the show debuted in 2016. Based on the John le Carré novel of the same name, the new seasons will expand past the events of the original book, extending the story of Hiddleston’s Jonathan Pine beyond the page. Hugh Laurie will return as executive producer, though it has not yet been confirmed whether he’ll reprise his role of Richard Roper.

“The first series of The Night Manager was one of the most creatively fulfilling projects I have ever worked on,” Hiddleston said. “The depth, range and complexity of Jonathan Pine was, and remains, a thrilling prospect.”

Also featuring Tom Hollander, Olivia Colman, and Elizabeth Debicki, Season 1 of The Night Manager followed Hiddleston’s Pine, a casino manager in Cairo who was hired to infiltrate a crime syndicate. The series garnered millions of viewers and several awards, including nods from the BAFTAs, the Emmys, and the Golden Globes. The show was such a success that there was even an Indian remake, which itself was renewed for a second season at Disney+ Hotstar last year.

Hiddleston is set to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday (April 11th) to discuss plans for the show. The actor also starred in Loki Season 2 last year, as well as 2022’s The Essex Serpent on Apple TV+ (the best streaming service nobody’s talking about).
