Masamune-kun’s Revenge OVA Partially Reveals Events Ahead of Season 2

The OVA for Masamune-Kun’s Revenge aired on July 27, 2018 years apart before the announcement and airing of its sequel, Masamune-kun’s Revenge R (Season 2) which aired recently on Jul 3, 2023.

In the OVA, there was a brief moment featuring a phone conversation between Makabe and Aki, and it was evident that they were already quite close. This particular scene took place after the two had successfully resolved the conflicts and misunderstandings that unfolded in Season 2.

Furthermore, an earlier scene revealed that Aki had already chosen to cut her hair short. This decision came after she decided to move forward from her relationship with Makabe, an event also depicted in Season 2.

This left fans who exclusively followed the anime perplexed. The connection between Makabe, Aki, and her haircut seemed puzzling, especially considering that the events in the OVA occurred much earlier in the manga timeline, well before Season 2 had aired.
