eBay Overcharges Sellers Again for FedEx Shipping 'Adjustments'

eBay blamed a “FedEx invoicing issue” for overbilling sellers for packages sent using labels purchased through the eBay shipping label program in March, and it happened again this month. eBay’s program showed the correct amount when sellers purchased FedEx labels, but it charged them extra fees afterwards for FedEx “adjustments.”

The charges can add up to significant figures – in this thread from March, one seller said it added up to over $100. In another thread, a seller wrote in part, “Happened to me as well. Bought a $22 label, then after the package was delivered, FedEx said the weight of the package was LESS than what I claimed, and I was overcharged $60 by FedEx, and eBay facilitated stealing the money out of my account.” As one seller pointed out, this has been a chronic problem for eBay sellers for years.

An eBay moderator acknowledged the initial problem in March and provided the following update on April 4th:

“Due to a FedEx invoicing issue the week of March 25, 2024, some sellers were incorrectly charged for FedEx label adjustments. We apologize for the inconvenience, and eBay will refund these amounts within the next 5 business days.

“Update 4/4/24: our shipping team became aware of this happening again yesterday evening, and they are currently working to correct the issue.”
