Delta’s expanded Miami Sky Club is now open with seating for 300

Delta Air Lines’ so-called gateway hub in Miami just got a big glowup with the opening of an expanded Sky Club.

The carrier has added over 4,000 square feet and 100-plus seats to the Miami Sky Club, which is located between terminals H and J at Miami International Airport (MIA).

This represents a more than 50% increase in lounge capacity, meaning that the space shouldn’t be as overcrowded as it was before. The Miami Sky Club outpost now measures over 12,000 total square feet with space for around 300 guests.

The expanded section of the Sky Club looks similar to many of Delta’s newest lounges. It features locally inspired design, including a mosaic that pays homage to the city’s art deco architecture, new seating areas, better views and power outlets at nearly every seat.

Delta says that the expanded section was designed for business travelers with single-seat dining tables, a communal coworking table and other private nooks for phone calls or catching up on work.

Delta’s expanded Miami Sky Club is open daily from 4:45 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. This Miami expansion was originally supposed to be completed late last year, but that work got postponed to 2024.

For Delta, this expansion is just the first of what’s poised to be a blockbuster year for the Sky Club network. The carrier plans to open two new clubs in Charlotte and Seattle, and it will debut its first business-class-only lounges in New York, Los Angeles and Boston beginning this summer.

Meanwhile, for Miami travelers, this expansion comes as the carrier has been focused on growing its presence in South Florida thanks to its nascent joint venture with South American juggernaut LATAM. Delta and LATAM are working to boost their presence in Miami with a focus on connections throughout Latin America.

This summer, Delta will offer 34 peak-day flights from Miami to 12 destinations, including international service to Havana. All service will be operated on mainline equipment, with premium cabins available on all flights.

With the addition of daily service to Seattle launching in December, Delta’s domestic routes from Miami will include all nine of Delta’s domestic hubs, along with Raleigh, North Carolina; Orlando; and Washington, D.C.
