[Award Alert] Wide-Open Business Class Availability to Australia

It’s not often we see business class availability to Australia. Our team has just found tons of seats open on Qantas — even enough to bring the whole family — for dates into next March.

Here’s what you need to know about booking this business class deal.

Award Deal — Details

The best mileage deals are in Qantas’ nonstop routes between California and Australia. There’s availability for up to 5 passengers per route — and these flights can be booked for just under 109,000 points per person.

  • Class: Business
  • Route: Los Angeles (LAX) and San Francisco (SFO) to Brisbane (BNE), Melbourne (MEL), and Sydney (SYD)
  • Cost: 108,400 Qantas points and $180 in taxes and fees
  • Travel Dates: October 2024 to March 2025
  • Award Seats: Up to 5 passengers per route

If you want to fly via Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) instead, you could hop on those nonstop routes for a bit more (126,500 Qantas Frequent Flyer points).

How To Book

You’ll want to be as flexible as possible to find the best travel dates that work for you. Some dates are bookable for multiple passengers per route, which is quite rare to find.

Here are a few examples of travel dates available at the time of writing:

  • Los Angeles (LAX) to Sydney (SYD): 54 flights between October 22 and March 5
  • Sydney (SYD) to Los Angeles (LAX): 12 flights between October 4 and January 16
  • San Francisco (SFO) to Sydney (SYD): 12 flights between September 19 and January 26
  • Sydney (SYD) to San Francisco (SFO): 10 flights between September 12 and January 21
  • Los Angeles (LAX) to Melbourne (MEL): 41 flights between October 8 and December 26
  • Melbourne (MEL) to Los Angeles (LAX): 44 flights between October 4 and March 26

You can transfer Amex Membership Rewards points, Capital One miles, and Citi ThankYou points at a 1:1 ratio to Qantas Frequent Flyer. You can also transfer Marriott Bonvoy points at a 3:1 rate, although we don’t recommend this unless you’re short a few extra points.

If you’re looking to lock down this deal ASAP, we recommend transferring your stash of Amex points first, as they usually transfer over instantly.

Hot Tip:

Want to fly Qantas’ first class instead? It’s a splurge, but you can book some dates for 162,800 points and roughly $340 in taxes and fees.

Final Thoughts

Planning a trip to Australia in style just got easier with plenty of dates bookable with Qantas Frequent Flyer points. With lie-flat business class seats for the ~19 hour flight, you’ll be well rested for your adventure Down Under.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
