A Review of the Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts

The anime series Sacrificial Princes and the King of Beasts takes place in a land where humans live near a land of animal people that look like beasts. Beasts are a stronger race that exert influence on human beings in various ways. In order for humans to appease the beast, a girl is sent to the kingdom as a sacrifice to the king of beasts each year. These girls are selected early in life and know their fate long before they are picked for sacrifice.

It is soon time for the 99th human sacrifice and a girl called Sariphi (or Sari) is sent to the kingdom. Like others, she has known her fate since she was young. When it is her time to face the knife, she discovers that the king of beasts is kind. Rather than having her killed, the king decides to marry her. Unfortunately, he has a hard time convincing the kingdom that a human can be queen. This story takes place during Sariphi’s struggles to get accepted into the Beast Kingdom. Here is review of the story.

How Have the Adaptations Worked?

Many movies and games are adaptations of stories written by others. You can play characters and slots that depict events in these books. Check out movie- and book-oriented titles at your favorite online casino and play them with no deposit free spins on sign up.

This story is an adaptation of the source Manga by Yu Tomofuji. The original story has 15 volumes, which it wishes to fit into 24 episodes. The anime adaptation is halfway through the book, and it is doing a great job at that. Its most recent episode, 12, takes viewers through volume seven of the story. While several things have been left out, the general plot adaptation is great and comparable to the general story. The anime can improve the rest of the story, but so far, it is so good.

Apart from the review of the adaptation, this anime tells a very good classic story. It follows the basic ‘beauty and the beast’ story as known to the general public, although with a few exceptions. In this story, the beast king looks like a lion. It surprises the sacrificial princess with an escape route.

The princess takes up the opportunity to turn the tables on him by offering comfort and understanding to the point that he offers her marriage. Unfortunately, the lover is a were human. Therefore, he has some characteristics that the young princess must deal with to live comfortably with him. In times of full moon, he turns into a human. Unfortunately, this change is short-lived.

Unexpected Turns in the Story

The beast is biracial. It means that one of the parents was a human. However, this information must remain hidden, even from his advisors, to prevent creating feuds with humans or causing them to use this weakness to their advantage.

Sariphi calls her lover-beast Leonhart, as his father never gave him a name. He is the senior king in the beast kingdom. (The kingdom is divided into several regions, each governed by a kingdom.) In the story, the writer explains the cause of animosity between beasts and humans.

Apparently, the beasts felt inferior to humans despite their immense physical capabilities. They fought several wars against humans in the past before coming to a truce where humans agreed to give them one human sacrifice each year.

The Visit to the Cat Kingdom

Once Sariphi was married, she took a journey to the cat kingdom with her lover. It was tradition that the sitting queen blesses the newborn heir of the cat kingdom. However, the cat queen had objected this time. She did not want Sariphi to touch the baby, as she was human.

The cat queen uses derogatory, racist words when talking to the new beast queen. It is so bad that her husband and daughter are appalled by her language. The king does not want to anger the beast king and reprimands the wife for her language.

Sariphi’s Attitude Gets Her Past Challenges

However, aggressions against her infuriate those who take care of her. For example, the crocodile princess of the reptile kingdom is not happy about the way she is treated. She shares a similar story where people feel she is lower class because reptiles are less beautiful than other races.

This story brings out the reptile princess Amit as a king and a good being. This makes her a great friend of Sari. She is also very charming and has a crush on Jormungand, the snake-man captain of the king’s guard.

Within the kingdom, the biggest challenge comes from Anubis, the king’s chancellor. He hates Sari to the core and would love to see her dead. Anubis disregards the king’s wishes and is a problem for everyone. However, he does not have a way to kill Sari. Sari comes out as a strong character. However, most of her strengths are internal. Therefore, she does not face most of her opponents head-on. Instead, she is calm, composed and hardworking as she gradually changes the beast kingdom.
