Tasty Links Settings
With the Tasty Links plugin, under Settings, you can enter disclosure text to appear after each affiliate link or at the beginning of your blog post containing affiliate links. You can make it short, such as “affiliate link” or go into detail about how you earn a commission from the purchases made and share the specific merchant you are promoting. You can set a maximum number of times that your affiliate link appears when you mention a specific keyword in your post. This is a nice feature that allows you to sprinkle the affiliate links throughout your post without bombarding your readers with these links. You can also select where you would like these links to appear from the following options:
All – all the content you publish
Pages – on your web pages
Posts – within your blog posts
Stories – in stories you publish on your site
Tasty Recipes – within your recipe cards (if you also have the Tasty Recipes plugin)
Connect Tasty Links to Share a Sale with your Share a Sale ID and to Amazon associates with your Amazon Access Key and Secret Key. This helps you to generate images for linked products.
Setting up Your Affiliate Links
If you’re an Amazon associate, log into your Amazon account. Copy and paste your desired product link from the site stripe at the top of your page. Paste it into the box that appears under the Links tab when you click the “Add Amazon Link” button. Next, set the keyword you want associated with your affiliate link. It could be simple, like “Staub round cocotte” or more specific like “Staub Cast Iron 2.75-qt. Round Cocotte – Basil, Made in France.” Whenever you use that phrase that you specified, your affiliate link will automatically be attached to those words.
Under Options, you want to set the rel=”nofollow” option to “On.” This lets Google know that you might get paid for the link and therefore not to count it into your search engine rankings. You should also enable the rel=”sponsored” when using affiliate links or ads. Other options you can set are opening the link in a new window, append the disclosure statement, and prevent auto-linking. Prevent auto-linking lets you control the affiliate links manually instead of having the link automatically appear when the keyword is mentioned. You can also adjust who you want to be able to access the links.
To include a picture of the product, go to Amazon where the product is listed. Now click to enlarge the image of the product, right click and copy the image address. Paste the image address where it says “Enter image URL” in the Featured image section of the Links tab. This will generate a preview of the product, and you can adjust the dimensions of the image to your liking.
If you are a Share a Sale affiliate, log into your account and grab a link from there, or use the Create a Custom Link tool. This is a really cool tool in Share a Sale because it lets you create a link to any product. If you’re an affiliate for that merchant, you can use this tool to link to any product on their site. You can right click to copy and paste the image address for the featured image.
Adding Featured Links to Your Posts
Adding featured links to your posts is super easy. You just have to search for Tasty Links under WordPress blocks and select that option. Then you can add a heading for your link and use the drop down menu to select which link you want to feature. Once you have selected it, the link will appear in your post with the featured image you set. This looks really nice and visually appealing for your readers. It gives the illusion of shopping directly on the merchant’s site because they can actually see what the product looks like.
