BBC football pundit Garth Crooks has named three Arsenal stars in his Team of the Week following the 3-0 Premier League win over Brighton & Hove Albion on the road.
The Gunners were anticipated to face a tricky challenge at the Amex Stadium on Saturday, but they managed to secure a comfortable win with a clean sheet.
Arsenal netted three goals on the day, but the margin of victory could have been wider. Gabriel Magalhaes and Bukayo Saka squandered big chances at 0-0.
The victory has sent the Gunners back to the top of the table ahead of Liverpool, who played out a 2-2 draw against Manchester United despite their dominance.
In his Team of the Week, Crooks has now chosen three Gunners stars. William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes have made the cut after their brilliant defensive displays.
Saliba has been rock-solid at the heart of the Gunners backline. He has been partnered superbly by Gabriel, who made a crucial block to keep a clean sheet at Brighton.
Declan Rice has complemented them from the defensive midfield role this campaign and Crooks said that he was once again at the heart of a ‘very professional‘ performance.
Arsenal have their title destiny in their own hands after Liverpool’s failure to beat United.
They currently have the same points as Jurgen Klopp’s side but with a superior goal difference of nine. Their rich vein of scoring form this year has definitely proved worthwhile.
The Gunners could potentially win the league by winning their final seven games of the campaign, but it won’t be an easy task with tricky away trips to Tottenham Hotspur and United.
The club also host Aston Villa and Chelsea at home. They face the former this weekend. Before that, they host Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final.
Bayern are currently in poor league form with successive losses, but Arsenal still face a difficult challenge with the German outfit pretty much having nothing to play for in Bundesliga.
