Tricks – 365 Day 199

Tricks - 365 Day 199

Ok so this is all one shot, no photoshop trickery here. I had this idea to wait til it got dark and use a flashlight attached to a string and swing it around in a circle so it would make a ball of light.
The first ones turned out cool but it need something else so I pulled out a couple of speedlights. The first speedlight was placed camera left to light me first right as I started making the ball of light. Then when I was done with three rotations of the flashlight I dropped it and ran up to the other speedlight which was placed camera right shot through a LTP softbox. The entire exposure was 168 seconds. The first speedlight was triggered right off the bat with the camera and Macy was holding the controller with her other hand on the second speedlight to pop it when I got in position. I thought it turned out well. I’ll have to try some more light tricks.

Please hit the letter L and view this large.

Strobist: one 430EX camera left shot through snoot at 1/2 power and one 580EX II camera right shot through Lumiquest LTP softbox at 1/4th power.
