Battling with not enough gear is a weak excuse, but it’s generally a bad idea to try and light a scene when the surroundings are too dark. Strobist: On Camera flash M 1/128, SB-800 shot through Westcott camera right 1/32 and SB-R200 with purple gel to light the background. Tungsten lamp to light right side of my face. My D80 kept on blinking flash telling me it wants flash (what the hell did I set up?) and the D80 won’t focus with the remote control and the D80 at ISO640 and the 105mm F/2.8 @ F/4.5 (to get some sharpness in the face). Pff, it looks easier than it is.
