This is my favorite shot from a photography workshop I was invited to be a part of at Lime Rock Park in Litchfield County, Connecticut a few weekends ago. LRP is a unique natural-terrain track tucked away in Northwestern CT, owned by former-driver Skip Barber. It’s been host to a variety of races, festivals, and motorsports events in its 53-year history. This particular event featured hundreds of vintage automobiles on track and on display. Having the opportunity to shoot there is always great fun, and a wonderful privilege – especially when I can get track-side.

I had my trusty Canon kit with me, but the photo team supplied high-end Nikon bodies and lenses to loan out, so I got a nice taste of how the pros do their job. The course instructors were vets with 30+ years of experience shooting for Sports Illustrated, so their guidance was invaluable. All I have to say is that you really get to appreciate the process when you’re down in the pit with racers screaming by you and 600mm glass in tow. This image was taken on the "No Name Straight" during initial warm-up laps in the morning, and given a bit of feel-good vintage processing in post. I had it printed to 16×20 at the local lab and it looks sweet. Best viewed larger and on black here.

As far as the other shots in my archive go, I’ve decided that I have to post a hell of a lot more of them here going forward. I need to reboot my little franchise of one and get content out there into the ether for people to see and experience. MY M.O. is that I get caught up in all of the details of what/how/why and don’t leave room for the pure, simple acts of creating and sharing. I’m sitting on a ton of shots, and it does them (and my talent) a great dis-service to have them merely taking up hard drive space. Time to throw them out into the Universe and see what comes back.

I’ll also be upgrading my gear in the next few months, and diving into a site dev project to showcase the work I’m most proud of. I’ll keep you informed.

And, it’s not like I need to say it, but I have to….THANKS (again) to everyone who has given me the support and encouragement to keep going on when the days were at their darkest. We all have our own brand of life’s "complications" to deal with, but it’s truly inspiring and touching to know you’re out there standing behind me – still. My love to you all.

See you again.

Soon.
