The Canadian Institute of Traffic and Transportation (CITT) has released the agenda for its annual Canadian Logistics Conference, held this year in Halifax, N.S., June 5-7.

“This year’s conference will offer a deep dive into the current state of logistics, along with a look at factors that will impact our industry moving forward,” says Pina Melchionna, CITT’s president and CEO. “Attendees will find opportunities to hear from experts on everything from sustainability to mobile technology and AI.”

Following a welcome reception at historic shipping hub Pier 21, the conference kicks off with an economic update and forecast hosted by Tiago Figueiredo, macro strategist at Desjardins Capital. This session will examine the challenges and opportunities created by population growth and the housing market, along with an understanding of how inflation and interest rates are affecting transportation.

Other seminars include, “The Road to Net Zero & Sustainability” an examination of a decarbonization project in Detroit, and its wider implications for transportation, and a panel discussion about AI and supply chain logistics.

“For 2024, we’ve turning our focus on the future of logistics and exciting opportunities that are opening up thanks to emerging technologies like AI,” says Melchionna. “The panel we’ve assembled will focus on current use cases, and how artificial technology can help companies boost ROI and scale. We’ll also be offering keynotes on innovation in the food supply chain, and inland shipping via the Great Lakes.”

In addition to seminars over three days, attendees can take part in a tour of the Port of Halifax and PSA terminals, including the Cruise Terminal, Ocean Terminal, and South End Container Terminal.
