For God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. — 1 Peter 5:5
We live in an interesting time in our society. Years ago, there was little interest among people to make a name for themselves. Most people were interested in taking care of their family, getting by as best they could, but in the end, being a good human being. Now, with the rise of social media and the internet, everyone wants to claim their minute of fame. They just want a viral photo or video, so they are seen as having accomplished something in their life.
Not long ago, I remember having a conversation with someone about social media and how they were posting a lot of items. This person then went on to explain to me how they made a video that was posted to TikTok and seen by hundreds of thousands. They were proud of their accomplishment.
This person became frustrated when I asked them what the post actually accomplished for them. I was curious what they actually received, aside from being proud of themselves. The response really surprised me. This person was proud of what they had accomplished, saying they were on the “cusp of stardom.”
God can certainly use stars to accomplish His will. But someone doesn’t have to be a TikTok or social media star to live for God. In fact, God is looking for humble people. People that aren’t out for self-serving interests, but those who are willing to put Him first and let Him get the glory.
You may never see your name on a billboard somewhere. You may never make a viral social media post. But God is not looking for everyone to accomplish those things. He has grace for those who are willing to humble themselves in service to Him. Not seeking self-gratification, but instead seeking that God gets the glory.
Across the world, Christians need the encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians accept Jesus Christ as Savior. Another Well Ministries is a non-profit ministry that relies on donations to continue its work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
