The Fall of X has been raging for almost a year now, and the final battlles are beginning, and we begin to see the endgame of the X-Men‘s fight against Nimrod and Orchis for the fate of the world itself in this CBR exclusive preview of next week’s Fall of the House of X #5.
Fall of the House of X #5 comes from writer Gerry Duggan, artist Lucas Werneck, colorist Bryan Valenza, and letterer Travis Lanham, with a cover from Pepe Larraz, who was one of the artists involved at the start of the House of X era back in 2019. The X-Men’s fight against the villainous anti-mutant organization, Orchis, had long been a bit of a Cold War, as Orchis held humanity hostage to prevent the X-Men from fighting them directly. However, now that Orchis’ leverage is gone, the X-Men have been taking the fight right to Orchis.
However, the true motives of Orchis have now also been revealed, and the X-Men are no longer fighting just for the fate of mutantkind, but for the fate of humanity itself, as Orchis’ artificial intelligence, highlighted by the powerful Nimrod, is set to destroy ALL human life on Earth. Unless, of course, the X-Men can save the lives of a planet that hates and fears them.

At the end of last issue, the X-Men successfully destroyed Sentinel City’s solar array (which was about to kill all of humanity in a matter of minutes) by hitting it with a space station, but Nimrod’s ability to split his consciousness among his various bodies has made the X-Men’s attempts to bring him down quite difficult. However, at the end of Fall of the House of X #4, Storm was now on the way to help, and in this issue, another major mutant joins the fray.

Marvel teases two more new X-Men ongoing series, plus a famous member of the X-Men joins the Avengers!
In the preview pages, we see a flashback to when Doctor Stasis and Feilong first started Orchis, not knowing that they were setting into motion events that would doom humanity, as well.
We then see the X-Men battle against Nimrod, who is very confident that he will succeed in the fight. However, even Nimrod is a bit shaken when he discovers that Magneto, the Master of Magnetism, has arrived, and is working with the X-Men (as well as his powerful daughter, Polaris). How this fight ends (and what happens with Professor X, who split from the rest of the X-Men last issue) will be revealed next week!
