The Autobots Struggle to Survive in First Look

Skybound has released a first-look preview and new variant covers for the Energon Universe’s Transformers #8. Daniel Warren Johnson and Jorge Corona’s upcoming May issue will see Optimus Prime and the Autobots, as well as Decepticons, make some tough choices to survive on Earth, as the return of a fan-favorite Decepticon will change the war on Cybertron forever.

Skybound‘s Transformers #8 preview reveals the U.S.S. Harrison vessel under attack from Decepticons in the Pacific Ocean. The naval commander orders his crew to abandon the ship when they are overwhelmed by the force they face. Thundercracker condescendingly shows mercy to the humans but is overridden by his superior, who deems their death necessary. In addition to series colorist Mike Spicer (Stillwater, Murder Falcon) and Johnson’s main cover, the impressive list of variant covers for Transformers #2 includes a version by new series artist Corona and an incentive variant beginning a new connecting cover series by Karen S. Darboe (Bloodline: Daughter of Blade). Ethan Young (The Dragon Path) and Paul Azaceta (Outcast) also provide incentive variant covers.
