Marvel’s Twisted Moon Knight has Ancient Ties to the Other Fist of Khonshu

The new Moon Knight continues to be a serious problem and his past is still shrouded in mystery. However, his fighting style is thankfully more than a little familiar to Marvel Comics’ other Fist of Khonsu.

Vengeance of the Moon Knight #4 finds Doctor Andrea Sterman walking Yehya Badr, better known as the Hunter’s Moon, through the problems posed by the recently emerged, malicious vigilante claiming to be the new Moon Knight. As Badr discusses his last encounter with this Moon Knight, he hones in on how familiar the villain’s fighting style felt at the time. Not just in that Hunter’s Moon had seen it before, but in the sense that it is one known to the ghosts of past Moon Knights who reside within him.

Introduced back in 2021’s Moon Knight #1 by writer Jed MacKay and artist Alessandro Cappuccio, Doctor Yehya Badr is the Hunter’s Moon, the other Fist of Khonshu, blessed with the Moon god’s divine strength and undying nature. While Marc Spector’s betrayal of Khonshu was initially a source of violent conflict between the two Fists of Khonshu, Badr eventually came around to understanding Marc’s decision and respecting his work with the Midnight Mission. Though he and Marc share many of the same powers, Badr wields the additional ability to summon and commune with the spirits of past Fists of Khonshu in both the metaphysical and physical realms.

Following months of working alongside Moon Knight and his allies within the Midnight Mission, Hunter’s Moon was one of the heroes who were forced to watch from the sidelines as Marc Spector sacrificed his life to stop the Black Spectre from throwing New York City into abject chaos. Along with former Avenger Tygra, former D-list villain 8-Ball, and the vampires Reese and Soldier, Hunter’s Moon has done everything he can to continue keeping Marc’s mission alive.

Vengeance of the Moon Knight #1 brought Moon Knight back, or at least a version of him, in the form of the current, enigmatic figure who has adopted the mantle as their own. Upon their debut, this Moon Knight lashed out at Marc Spector’s allies and loved ones, putting them on notice for daring to enter “his house.” Since then, Hunter’s Moon and the other members of the Midnight Mission have sought out any leads they could find regarding this new Moon Knight’s identity, not to mention what it is he plans to do as Marc’s supposed successor.
