Skybound has revealed cover art for a new G.I. Joe miniseries starring Destro. The new limited five-part series will be written by Dan Watters and features art by Andrei Bressan.
The balance of power in the Energon Universe will be changed when Destro arrives, with the G.I. Joe villain Cobra’s threat increasing with the appearance of James McCullen Destro XXIV — the man behind M.A.R.S. Industries. Skybound revealed the main cover art and an assortment of variant covers for the upcoming first issue of Destro, including a blank sketch cover and two connecting Energon Universe Anniversary covers. Destro #1 goes on sale June 19.

Destro is the founder of M.A.R.S. Industries, the weapons manufacturer and supplier for G.I. Joe’s nemesis, Cobra. The new series will explore how the emergence of Energon has changed things for Destro and M.A.R.S. Industries, with Destro’s ambitions growing and “Crimson Twins” Tomax and Xamot Paoli emerging to destroy their competition, causing Cobra Commander to realize his current ally could one day be his future greatest enemy.
Destro is the Final of Four Action-Packed G.I. Joe Miniseries
Earlier this year, Skybound’s four action-packed G.I. Joe miniseries began with Joshua Williamson’s Duke, showing the G.I. Joe Team’s Sergeant’s arrival in the Energon Universe. Since then, the G.I. Joe franchise’s presence in the Energon Universe has expanded further with Cobra Commander and Scarlett.

Destro rounds out Skybound’s lineup of G.I. Joe miniseries that introduce iconic characters into the new shared universe. The Energon Universe began with Void Rivals #1 in 2023 and also features characters from the Transformers franchise.
