Guide of Richmond, Virginia from local Accounting Firm

Attractions in Richmond, Virginia from Accounting Professionals

For the past 45 years Keiter has called Richmond, and the surrounding areas, home. For most of the Firm the Greater Richmond area is where we work, eat, shop and play. When our team isn’t doing accounting work, they are likely out exploring one of the many attractions around the area. While Richmond is within a two-hour drive of many locations like the beach, mountains, and D.C., our city also has a lot to see and do.

Within a 30-mile range here are some of our favorites:

Downtown:

VMFA: The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts sits in the heart of our city and is a staple in the Museum District.  The VMFA is home to many art galleries showing different styles and mediums of art. Yet, the museum offers more than visual art, with other events and areas. These include a Jazz Café, weekly events on Friday nights, and a beautiful lawn to have a picnic or watch the sunset.

Kabana Rooftop: Speaking of sunsets, there are likely very few spots better than Kabana Rooftop. This location is situated downtown and offers stunning views of the city, no matter the time of day. Whether you are looking for a social hour spot after work, or a night out with friends after a busy work week, Kabana should be on your list of possible options.

Henrico:

Short Pump (Town Center): Recently celebrating its 20th year anniversary, Short Pump Town Center has become a staple in the Greater Richmond area. While there is much shopping to do, the restaurants and attractions around the area allow you to make a whole day out of the area. With over 100 businesses in the area, your trip to Short Pump can look different every time.

Performance Pickleball: Over the past few years, we have heard more about the sport of Pickleball. A social and easy to pick up activity that allows people of all ages to play. In the greater Richmond area, we have the Largest Indoor Pickleball facility at Performance Pickleball located at the Regency Mall. While memberships are available, non-members are welcome to play when space is available.

New Kent:

Jolene Family Winery: Located in beautiful New Kent County, you will find Jolene Family Winery. This waterfront winery is a great spot to have a relaxing evening with friends, family, or coworkers. With seating inside and outside this spot is great no matter the season.

Golf Courses: Close to 30 minutes away from Keiter’s office you can find some of Richmond’s best public golf courses for corporate outings, or casual weekend golf. Both the courses of Royal New Kent and Club at Viniterra offer a challenging course with stunning views. Both are great options to check out during the warmer months of Virginia.

Chesterfield:

Pocahontas State Park: Located in Chesterfield, you will find Pocahontas State Park. This park offers close to 100 miles of trails, an aquatic center, multiple lakes for fishing and boating and plenty of space for events of all sizes. This beautiful park is open year-round with many open to the public events during the warmer months.

Richmond Metro Zoo: We can’t forget about the Zoo. Located just south of the City of Richmond, the Metro Richmond Zoo is home to around 2000 animals. Not only will you be able to see these animals, but there are opportunities to pet, feed, and learn about these wonderful creatures.

Hanover:

The Depot: Located in Ashland, Virginia, or what the locals call “The Center of the Universe” is a community event spot called the Depot. This multi-functional space will host a range of events, both public and private. This space could be used as a wedding venue one day and serve as a workshop location the next. What is consistent is their coffee and pastries that are available every day. Find out about upcoming events on their Facebook page.

Kings Dominion: Last, but not least is Kings Dominion, Central Virginia’s amusement park. Here you will be able to find plenty of roller coasters, but also is home to events throughout the year that bring shows and live music. With so much to do, Kings Dominion can be visited time after time.

Closing

These are just a few examples of the many attractions in Richmond. With Richmond continuing to grow the list of things to do, see, eat, and drink will continue to rise.
