After 14 years, Red Dead Redemption might finally be headed to PC, according to new information unearthed by a dataminer. Rockstar community member Tez2 recently posted on X/Twitter that “it looks like Rockstar is gearing up to release #RDR1 on PC” and attached a screenshot that they claim was pulled from a Rockstar launcher site file.
“Journey across the sprawling expanses of the American West and Mexico in Red Dead Redemption, and its zombie-horror companion, Undead Nightmare. Now playable on PC,” the text in the image reads. Tez2 added that the launcher site had recently been updated with the new message, although there’s no indication of when Rockstar could plan to surprise-launch Red Dead Redemption on PC.

For PC fans, it’ll have been a long wait if the report turns out to be true. Originally launching on Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2010, PC owners have long been requesting for the game to make its way to their platform. Strangely, Red Dead Redemption 2 hit PC a year after it first landed on PS4 and Xbox One, and players were expecting Rockstar to bring the previous open-world cowboy game to their systems.
Red Dead Redemption did get updated for PS4 and Switch last year, although it proved to be underwhelming and “bare-bones” on launch. Rockstar has regularly prioritized console over PC, something it’ll be doing for GTA 6 when it launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2025.
