OAK Seeking To Change Formal Name

Aviation Week reports that the Port of Oakland is seeking to rename the Metropolitan Oakland International Airport to the San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport, with the airport’s identifiers remaining unchanged. One of the reasons is to attract more traffic to the airport. OAK has service to Hawai‘i by Hawaiian Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and Federal Express.
