Nintendo Switch Online Adds Super Mario Land, Two Other Game Boy Games

Nintendo has added a new batch of classic games to the Nintendo Switch Online service. Subscribers now have access to three additional Game Boy titles, including the beloved Super Mario Land, which has been conspicuously absent from the service up until now.

Notable for being the first Super Mario game not developed by series creator Shigeru Miyamoto, Super Mario Land follows the plumber as he journeys through the bizarre Sarasaland on a quest to rescue Princess Daisy from the alien invader Tatanga.

Joining Super Mario Land are two other Game Boy launch titles: Alleyway and Baseball. The former is a Breakout clone that tasks players with maneuvering a panel to deflect a ball and destroy grids, while the latter is a straightforward sports game with two-player support.

All three titles are available as part of Nintendo Switch Online’s Game Boy library, which is included in a base Nintendo Switch Online subscription. Individual memberships cost $4 USD for one month, $8 USD for three months, and $20 USD for one year, while an annual family plan runs for $35 USD and covers up to eight Nintendo Accounts across multiple systems.

Nintendo also offers a premium “Expansion Pack” tier that includes additional perks, such as access to classic Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Advance games, as well as Sega Genesis titles and some Nintendo Switch DLC. Two more N64 games were recently added for Expansion Pack subscribers.

Nintendo recently announced that a new Nintendo Direct will air in June. However, company president Shuntaro Furukawa confirmed the broadcast will not contain any news about the upcoming Switch successor.
