New Airport For Lagos , Nigeria — Sanjeev Sharma Travel Blog

Construction on a new international airport in Lagos will begin next year, according to the Lagos State Government. The Lekki-Epe International Airport, to be built near the Lekki-Epe expressway, will have initial capacity for five million passengers annually.

All necessary approvals from the federal government have already been obtained and the airport will be constructed in a partnership with local and foreign investors.

The original plan for the airport was finalised in 2015 but the scheme was delayed due to difficulties raising funds and opposition from landowners.

The main gateway to Lagos is currently Murtala Mohammed International Airport, with a current capacity for seven million passengers, expected to expand to 14 million now that the construction of Terminal 2 is complete, according to Global Construction Review.
