Once upon a time, on my travels, I found myself in Hong Kong. This very song was playing as a karaoke version in a local club close to the hotel i stayed in. Anyway, a Chinese man of a small statue was trying to sing this song. He wasn't really doing this classic any justice, so a taller black American man took over and began to sing it. He sang it phenomenally, as though he were the legend himself. Very soon, he had ladies all around him, dancing and enjoying themselves as he was mesmerizing and massaging their minds with his moves and vibes. I could tell by the look on their men's faces that they clearly did not approve of their women dancing with a weird stranger on the dance floor.

All of a sudden, though, the mood changed! The music stopped, and the man who was singing the song was suddenly ushering the girls off stage and attempted to say something in Chinese I did not understand. I asked one of my intern associates who was there with me that night regarding to what exactly he said. He relayed to me that the singer said, "Pick up your samurai swords and shave my butt." Well, that was weird, I thought. Unsatisfied, the singer brought out a Chinese man from the back to translate for him. As I already speak English, I heard the man demand that the women stand to one side of the club while the men stand on the other. The Chinese man then spoke to the patrons, which made everyone laugh as though their entire act were a comedy skit. I asked my bud what the Chinese man said, and he smiled and said that the singer was just drunk and silly. Suddenly, both men quickly ran out after a young woman and her escorts. The whole thing was very strange.

What was even stranger is that the next day, as I was being taxied to the airport, I looked up from my crossword puzzle and saw the same two men running naked along the freeway. They were covering themselves with what I could see were tin garbage lids. Strange folk i tell ya.
