House Of The Dragon Season 2’s New Trailer Reveals Dissension On Both Sides

There can only be one ruler on the Iron Throne in House of the Dragon, but Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) has been usurped by her half brother, King Aegon II Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney). Rhaenyra’s followers, commonly called the Blacks, are behind her in the war to reclaim her legacy. Meanwhile, Aegon’s followers, the Greens, are already prepared to defend the crown. However, a new trailer for House of the Dragon Season 2 reveals that there’s dissension among the Blacks and the Greens that may weaken both forces from within.

For Rhaenyra’s side, she’s starting to doubt the commitment of her husband/uncle, Prince Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith), after he hesitates to recognize her as his queen and ruler. On the other side, Aegon’s more intimidating brother, Prince Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell), condemns their mother, Queen Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke), as a fool because she still cares about Rhaenyra and the people fighting alongside her.

Neither Rhaenyra nor Aegon’s forces are willing to back down from this fight, which may prove to be extremely dangerous for both sides. Even with the great houses of Westeros declaring for either their king or queen, the dragons are the most destructive creatures that this world has ever seen. And when dragons clash in the skies above the seven kingdoms, they may leave nothing behind except death.

House of the Dragon Season 2 will premiere on HBO and Max on June 16. The second season will run for eight episodes. Additionally, HBO recently announced a second Game of Thrones prequel series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which may arrive as soon as 2025.
