HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

My family has adopted two shelter animals:  A dog and a cat. The latest addition to our household is a Corgi. After waiting several years with no success finding one at a shelter, we went ahead and got one from a farm in Ocala, FL. He cost considerably more than our shelter pets, who have been a blessing, but he was well worth it. The woman whom we purchased him from was able to predict exactly how he would behave. It confirmed, for me, that specific breeds have specific characteristics.

He is extremely playful; likes to chew things; is very loving. Fortunately, he has toys to chew on. He barks when he is excited. A bark that sounds like that of a much larger dog. His bark is definitely worse than his bite 😊 This is our first time having a puppy and it is a lot more work 😊 He is very smart and has already figured out how to use outdoors for his bathroom. There is more laughter in my household now as we watch his antics and try not to be his favorite chew toy 😊He carries toys more than half his size from one location to the other. He growls and barks at his own reflection. I am not sure how he envisions himself, but clearly the mirror reflection is not lining up with how he thinks he looks 😊.

He is about a third longer than the average puppy and about a third shorter. There is a scripture that comes to mind regarding our care of animals: Proverbs 12:10 NIV: “The righteous care for the needs of their animals, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.” Isn’t it interesting how the bible covers all that we need to know in order to live a life pleasing to God. Love is the most important thing: Love for God, for others and for the animals He has given us to love and care for.
