COMPONENTS OF A MIRACLE – by Joy Foster

I shared some time ago about the miraculous provision of God, when my car got a flat tire on a road trip. I was driving from Florida to New Jersey in an older car with a U-haul trailer hitched to the back. It was an ambitious trip and one I had prayed about taking. I had a premonition about getting a flat tire but hoped for the best. My daughter, about 9 years old, then, accompanied me.

As soon as I entered New Jersey I felt and heard the tell-tale signs of a flat tire. I had noticed a repair shop a little less than a mile, prior.  It was late evening and daylight was fading. I told my daughter we were going to walk back to the repair shop; after I pulled over to the side of the road. She was very upset. I had just enough money for gas to make the trip and now did not have any money left.

The repair shop told me that I needed to pay $20.00 in order to have the tire patched. I had no credit cards and no money. I called my mother who usually helped out in an emergency. She refused to use her credit card to pay for the tire repair (this surprised me). In the meantime, my daughter had wandered over to a vending machine that had stuffed animals in it. The goal was to get the hook, attached to a line, to grab one of the stuffed animals; then drop it into the opening in the bottom, so it would pass to the outside. I wasn’t watching her play. She came over to me excitedly and told me that she had gotten one of the stuffed animal toys out.

Imagine our amazement when we saw that around the stuffed animal’s neck, held by a rubber band, was a $20.00 bill.  There are several components to this miracle: 1. God obviously knew in advance that we would be at that location needing the $20. 2. Someone (or an angel) had to have been led to put the $20 bill there. 3. My daughter had to have been led to play the game 4. The flat tire had to have occurred within the vicinity of that repair shop 5. The repair had to have cost the amount provided.

What I learned from this experience is this: Just because God says it is ok to do something does not mean that there will not be challenges. He will help us to overcome them. God is our source. Do not rely on man but rely on God for provision. God knows what we will need before we need it and has already made a way for us. There is nothing too hard for God to do. Sometimes he uses others to bless us. God is able to supply all our needs, we need only believe and obey.
