CHRISTMAS JOY – by Joy Foster

As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, we are also aware that He came to die for us. He left heaven to come here to live a life of sacrifice and persecution. He was born in a manger; a place where the animals went to find food to eat. This symbolism is shown when Jesus told us that we must eat His flesh and drink His blood (John 6:53-58). This is also symbolized when we take Holy Communion. He told us to do this in remembrance of Him (Luke 22:18-20).

This Christmas, if you do not receive the things that you would like, remember that you have already received the greatest gift of all, the gift of salvation. Ephesians 2:8 “ For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,” If you are born again, you have already received the greatest gift that you can receive on earth…the gift of salvation. As with any gift, you can also choose to reject it. It is freely given and must be freely received.

The gift of salvation is worth more than jewelry from the finest jewelry stores. It is an everlasting gift. You will take it with you when you leave this earth. All other gifts will be left behind. So, if you do not receive all that you would like for Christmas, in terms of material things, rejoice in the fact that you have received the greatest gift there is.

May you have a wonderful Christmas celebration and a new year filled with joy and peace as you are led by the Holy Spirit. May God send His angels to protect you and keep you from harm. May you grow spiritually and prosper and be in good health.

Through the sacrificial life of Jesus, we can live an abundant life here and spend eternity in heaven, where there will be no more sorrow or tears.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
