AviationValues Matrix (Sept – Nov)

Our AviationValues Matrix provides a snapshot insight into recent aircraft value movements and market sentiments. Using our Automated Valuation Model (AVM), values of selected airframes and their relative changes are calculated and reflected in the below matrices. The % difference in value is determined by comparing airframe values by the same date of each month. Supporting comments written by our Head Appraiser, Kane Ray.

Narrowbodies

AviationValues' Age 0 and 5 Boeing 737 MAX 8 values show a noticeable increase in the 2 months to 08 November 2023.

Our ISTAT Appraisers have captured multiple instances of transaction prices for Age 0 aircraft up to USD 53.50 million. Most recent market feedback indicates that pricing is moving upward to the mid USD 50 millions.

Positive value movements are also observed for Age 5 through 15 Boeing 737-800 aircraft. This is somewhat linked to an active lease extension and placement of Old Tech Narrowbodies which continue to supplement capacity. As the market overcomes well documented in service and production issues with New Tech Narrowbodies.

Widebodies

AviationValues' Market Values for the two most successful New Tech Widebodies by fleet population, the Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 787-9, have seen incremental increases.

Increases are supported by market pricing indicators for Age 0 aircraft of up to USD 160 million for the A350-900 and over USD 145 million for the 787-9. The most positive value movement in the two months to 08 November 2023 is for the 777-300ER. Value increases are supported by a September 2023 researched transaction for two Age 11 aircraft with Current Market Values of USD 36 million.

Note: Value changes will not appear for impossible situations. For example, a 10 year old A321neo would be considered an impossible situation. Hence, AviationValues may switch one airframe for another when it is appropriate to do so. The current airframes are highly representative of their respective category. Grey marked % changes indicate that the values have remained relatively stable over the previous month (+- 0.5% change).
