In February 2024, airBaltic, Latvia’s national airline, announced a significant 19% year-on-year surge, carrying 277,800 passengers. This growth trend defies the usual winter season decline in demand, with 2,840 flights recorded for the month, an 11% increase from the previous year.

Martin Gauss, President and CEO of airBaltic, underscored the impressive start to the year, exceeding half a million passengers in the initial two months. Emphasizing its status as the preferred airline in the Baltic States, Gauss outlined its strategic focus on expanding its fleet and adding new destinations to offer passengers an extensive array of travel choices.

Looking ahead to the upcoming summer season, airBaltic plans to launch 15 new routes, including 7 from Latvia, 3 from Estonia, 4 from Lithuania, and 1 from Tampere. Additionally, the airline aims to enhance flight frequencies on existing routes, bolstering connectivity between its home bases and global destinations.

Recently, the airBaltic Group disclosed a record profit of EUR 34 million for 2023, accompanied by over 4.5 million passengers and 44 thousand flights. With a network spanning more than 130 routes across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus region, airBaltic remains dedicated to providing extensive travel options for its passengers.
